Fares鈥 topics of research include Latin American cultural studies, legal studies, visual arts, and border studies.听 He is the author of five books, among them,聽Domingo F. Sarmiento鈥檚聽础谤驳颈谤贸辫辞濒颈蝉.听A Critical Translation聽(New York: Palgrave, 2021),聽La inmensa minor铆a.听Latino@s en Estados Unidos y las identidades posicionales (Buenos Aires: Dunken, 2014),聽Contemporary Argentinean Women Writers.听A Critical Anthology聽(Florida: U. P. of Florida Press, 1998, with E. Hermann), and聽Imagining Comala. The Space in Juan Rulfo鈥檚 Works聽(New York: Peter Lang, 1991) (in Spanish).听 In 2004 he was a Fulbright Visiting Professor at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, in Mendoza, Argentina. Dr. Fares is also a Fulbright Specialist scholar (2015-2022). He has worked with the聽聽(1998-present) as reader, member and chairperson of the AP Development Spanish Language and Literature聽Committee, Chief Reader, and AP consultant.
